Future of Social Media Marketing
History of Social Media in 90 Seconds!
Social media marketing is one of the most dramatic revolutions in history. According to the Makovsky Company, “Collectively, social media has the power to support or destroy a brand or reputation. Transparency is the key; but it’s risky business and required a new mindset and toolkit,” (“Working at Makovsky"). Social media is not a fad that will simply die out. Marketing analytics and the use of big data are growing in importance, especially when targeting an audience. Companies like Insightfully are working to configure the science behind a network’s social data so that corporations can target an audience they might not usually have contact with (Agrawal). With the advance of followers, likes and other traffic, strategists are searching the web and mobile web for ways to increase viewership and brand recognition and loyalty. According to Chris Marentis, “Doing this within the context of a layer on top of all your marketing efforts (online, offline, in-store) makes social marketing central, not separate to your brand communication” (Marentis). Along with advancements in technology, the ease of content creation should become a promising advancement as well. According to Curata, “68% of marketers are increasing investment in content marketing technology” (Gerard). Quick creation of content and advertisements will increase the probability of a brand to appear more frequently on a heavily trafficked platform. As social media grows and facilitates more conversation among people around the world, marketing tactics must be up to date or be left in the dust.
